Team manager Peter Mücke completed his second Youngtimer season station at the weekend (11th/12th August) at the Nürburgring successfully with two victories in his division. The owner and manager of the Berlin team Mücke Motorsport, which is engaged in the DTM, the Formula3 Euro Series and European Championships as well as the ADAC Formula Masters , defeated his competitors in his legendary Ford Capri RS (3.4ltr cc, manufactured 1974, around 450 horsepower) in the class including vehicles manufactured up to 1974 with more than 2ltr cc. In the overall ratings of the two races which took place as part of teh fringe programme of the Oldtimer Grand Prix with more than 40 vehicles at the start, the 65 year old finished as fifth on Saturday and second on Sunday.
„Once again, it was tremendous fun. I even beat my personal best with a best lap time 1.5seconds faster than ever before on the Nürburgring”, a thrilled Peter Mücke reports. His Ford Capri was once again perfectly prepared by his son Stefan Mücke (GT1 Vice World Champion 2011, this year Aston Martin driver in the new FIA World Endurance Championship in a Vantage GTE and former Mercedes pilot). “To get to the lead of the overall ratings of the Youngtimer field wasn’t possible this time round, considering there were more than twelve cars with over 1000 horsepower at the start”, explains Peter Mücke. “I could have reached third place on Saturday but unfortunately had to step off the track after an overtaking manoeuvre.” It doesn’t really matter much though, as “taking part behind the wheel is a feeling just as great as knowing to still deliver at speed on the track, even if I don’t have the opportunity to drive often anymore” says Peter Mücke.
This coming weekend (17th to 19th August), when the DTM as well as the Formula 3 Euro Series will commence the second half of the season, the Berlin man will swap the cockpit with the command post in Nürburgring again.
