The British GP3 Series weekend was particularly difficult to handle, with unfavourable weather conditions playing a dominating role in both races fought July 7 and 8 on the Silverstone circuit. Despite the deplorable conditions, Ocean Racing Technology secured points in both legs, thanks to 8th and 7th place finishes for its Italian driver, Kevin Ceccon, who started from 7th position on the starting grid in the first race, and was the polesitter in the second. Unfortunately, he was not able to stay in first position on a wet track at the start, which encouraged the use of rain tyres, but it was dry at the end, and that forced several drivers, including Kevin Ceccon, to make a tyre change. “It was a difficult weekend but also a positive one,” Kevin Ceccon declared, “The fact that we secured points in both races is good for the team, for morale, and for the championship. Unfortunately, the choice of tyres was not obvious this Sunday, and in the end we did not make the right one, and I was not able to stay in the front.”
Robert Cregan continued his process of adapting and evolving in the GP3 Series. The Irish driver finished his races in 20th and 15th places, and explains that the Silverstone weekend was one of the most complexes of his career. “I made it to the end of both races, it was very difficult but I learned a lot of things. I was fairly close to finishing in the top 10 in the second race and I think that we are on the right path to achieve this objective.”
Carmen Jorda was unable to take part in the two Silverstone races. Ocean Racing Technology’s female driver was ill with a fever in England, and had to forfeit after attempting to take the wheel in qualifying.
The fifth GP3 Series weekend will be held July 21 and 22 on Germany’s Hockenheim Circuit
