World Series Renault 3.5 – I.S.R. Racing captures a valuable points finish at Alcaniz

I.S.R. Racing scored valuable points in Race 2 of the World Series Renault 3.5 weekend at Motorland Aragon, the second race meeting of the 2014 season. After the smooth performance in Race 1 yesterday, Malaysian racer Jazeman Jaafar delivered a flawless performance in Qualifying 2, posting the 6th fastest lap of the day in an extremely tight pack before lining-up for the race eager to fight his way to the front of the charts. Jazeman was off to a clean start and put up a good fight to his main contenders. He kept cool and collected as he took part in some heated battles and was set to continue the same way. Unfortunately, when he came back to the pits at lap 6 for the mandatory tire change, one of the air guns had a problem, resulting in a loss of positions.

Once again, the driver was up to the challenge, recovering to the 9th position by the end of the race. He and the team will be back running at Monte Carlo, where the World Series Renault 3.5 will be supporting the Formula 1 Grand Prix with a single race on May 25th.

“The race was good. I did a pretty quick start and battled with Sirotkin all the way to the fifth corner. We were pushing very hard and the race pace was definitely there. Unfortunately, the left rear airjack jammed during the pit-stop and that time loss cost us three positions. I kept fighting all the time and I was able to pass Fantin before finishing in 9th. We scored good points again and now I can’t wait to be back at Monte Carlo, where I had clinched my first podium finish last year”.
