Pista – IRON LYNX COMMITS TO TWO-CAR ENTRY FOR 2024 LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO ASIA SEASON

Iron Lynx will run two Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 2 cars in the upcoming Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia season, with two new drivers joining the team for the six-round championship.

The team will join forces with the legendary Theodore Racing name for the #32 Pro category entry, forming SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing for the season ahead.

Ex-Formula One constructor Theodore Racing is a family-run team synonymous with single-seater racing, most famously at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix. Teddy Yip’s team was revived in 2013 by his son Teddy Yip Jr 30 years after Ayrton Senna’s victory with Theodore Racing. The team also has a recent background in sportscars.

Macau’s Charles Leong joins Iron Lynx after a strong background in single-seater racing in Asia and will race in the #32 entry. The 2017 Formula 4 China and Asian Formula Renault champion has sporadically raced in GT3s over the last couple of seasons – picking up four victories.

The 22-year old is a double winner of the Macau GP, one of just 11 drivers to achieve the feat around the famed Guia Circuit, and has briefly raced in FIA Formula 3 in Europe.

Joining Charles is Japanese driver Miki Koyama. Miki also has a strong background in single-seaters. The 2022 Formula Regional Japan champion is the first woman to win a FIA-sanctioned Formula championship and she moved into Japan’s prominent Super GT championship last year.

The 26-year old also previously raced in the all-female W Series, finishing seventh in her first season in 2019, switching into the then-new category after two solid seasons in Japanese F4.

Racing in car #33 will be Kumar Prabakaran, carrying on with the team following a successful 2023 season in which he fought for the Lamborghini Cup title until the final round of the season.

The Malaysian driver will once more be racing in the class solo and will be looking to build on his tally of three race wins, four further podiums and four pole positions from last year.

2024’s calendar features a mix of circuits across Asia and one round in Europe. Sepang begins the season on May 3-5, marking a home race for Kumar, before a visit to The Bend in Australia on June 7-9. Korea’s Inje Speedium hosts the third round on July 19-21 before Miki’s home race on August 16-18 at Fuji Speedway in Japan. China’s Shanghai International Circuit hosts the penultimate round on September 13-15, before a gap ahead of the finale in Spain at Circuito Jerez on November 14-15 before the World Finals.
