Isaac Tutumlu relieved brake failure didn´t cause injury

Spaniard with Kurdish roots Tutumlu suffered a brake failure immediately after starting his stint during Sunday´s Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race at Nürburgring. Fortunately he avoided crashing into barriers at high speed.

Isaac Tutumlu´s Race 2 ends in retirement after brake issue, with the Barcelona-born driver unable to equal his top-5 finish at Nürburgring yesterday. His teammate at Leipert Motorsport, Finland´s Jesse Anttila, started 11th and move up to eight before pitting for the mandatory pit stop and driver change. With Tutumlu taking over the Lamborghini Huracan from Anttila, the Spanish racer was already setting promising times but, just one lap later, lost the brakes and was forced to retire.

“Unfortunately, I managed to complete only one lap after taking over the car from my teammate Jesse, as I lost the brakes and went straight. At least I did not crash into barriers at high speed”, Tutumlu comments, recognizing that “it was a tension-filled moment because your top speed is 270km/h and you need to hit the brakes hard at the end of the straight. It was such a pity because my race was fairly good and I was lapping quicker than my nearest rivals. Now we need to focus on Sebring”.

The season finale will take place at Sebring next 19-22 November, with an exciting weekend including the acclaimed World Finals.
