MRF Tyres pushes forward tarmac development programme with Paolo Andreucci
MRF Tyres has completed an important new phase of its rally tyre development programme, with Paolo Andreucci carrying out an intensive asphalt testing session in Italy over the past few days.
The work formed part of MRF Tyres’ continuous technical development activity, with the current focus firmly directed towards the evolution of its tarmac rally range. The session provided another opportunity to evaluate different development specifications, gather comparative data and continue refining the characteristics required to deliver performance, consistency and confidence across the wide variety of conditions encountered in modern asphalt rallying.
Development has always represented one of the central pillars of MRF Tyres’ motorsport programme. Competition provides the ultimate proving ground, but the work conducted away from rally weekends is equally important. Dedicated testing allows engineers to isolate specific areas, analyse different solutions and work through a structured process before transferring the resulting knowledge into competition.
Paolo Andreucci continues to play a key role within this programme. One of the most successful drivers in Italian rallying, the multiple Italian Rally Champion combines his competitive experience with extensive tyre development expertise built over more than two decades at the highest level of the sport. His relationship with MRF Tyres has developed around this technical approach. Alongside the sporting results achieved together – including three consecutive Italian Gravel Rally Championship titles in 2021, 2022 and 2023 – Andreucci has contributed continuously to the evolution of MRF Tyres rally products through testing and competition on both gravel and asphalt.
The latest session in Italy was specifically centred on tarmac, an area on which MRF Tyres is currently concentrating significant development work. Repeated runs and direct comparison between different solutions allowed the technical team to collect further information on tyre behaviour and to assess development directions under controlled and repeatable conditions.
