Mobil 1 Supercup – Jubilee crowned with brilliant victory

It all added up for FACH AUTO TECH in their 100th Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race: the Dutch youngster Morris Schuring clinched the team’s 18th win in their history – from pole position and in front of a home crowd. Both of his team colleagues rounded off the success with good placements.

“We can definitely speak of reaching a milestone this weekend,” said a clearly proud Alex Fach. “Since our entry to the championship in 2013, we’ve been present at every race and experienced many ups and downs. And this season we’ve succeeded in turning the tables. I’d like to dedicate this victory in this very special race to all our partners and companions who’ve travelled this road with us.”

FACH AUTO TECH’s founder was one of the first to congratulate Morris Schuring after his win. The 18-year-old kept a cool head in the turbulent race on the Circuit Zandvoort and defended his lead from the first to last lap. “That was an incredible feeling, winning this particular race in Zandvoort. I had a top car and racing simply made so much fun,” said Schuring.

It was already FACH AUTO TECH’s third Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup victory within just a few weeks. Previously, Schuring had won the round in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, where he became the youngest-ever winner in the championship. His two wins plus a further fourth place after an impressive chase in the second Zandvoort race brought him a further good haul of championship points. Ahead of the finale in Monza, the Dutchman ranks at third position in the driver standings.

Alexander Fach was also one of the winning drivers from the past weeks. The 21-year-old triumphed early July in Silverstone and also scored valuable points in Zandvoort. His seventh place in the Saturday race was followed by an eighth on Sunday.

Gustav Burton demonstrated his duelling powers again at the North Sea coast. The Brit held his ground in the intensely contested midfield and clinched fifth and fourth places in the rookie classification. Bold overtaking manoeuvres on the demanding sand dune track highlighted the 20-year-old’s performance.

The eighth and final Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race is scheduled for 3 September in Monza, Italy.
