ATS Formula 3 Cup in DTM support programme

The ATS Formula 3 Cup is entering the crucial phase of the season, with three racing weekends still to go in the fastest national single-seater series. This weekend, the international starting grid will contest the next round at Lausitzring, in the support programme of the DTM. This is always a highlight on the racing calendar. The young talents will also have a chance to meet DTM driver Christian Vietoris. The 25-year old contested the ATS Formula 3 Cup in 2007. Current title contender Markus Pommer will have the opportunity to score crucial points on his way to winning the 2014 title.

Markus Pommer from Team Lotus has built up a comfortable lead to his closest pursuer, Team Motopark’s Nabil Jeffri, having scored nine victories, extra points for four pole positions as well points for six fastest laps. 86 points behind, the Malaysian will not give up. The third-placed driver and best rookie, Dutchman Indy Dontje from Team Lotus, as well as Briton Sam MacLeod, who contests for Van Amersfoort Racing and is currently fourth, still have a say in the battle for the championship title in the 2014 ATS Formula 3 Cup. However, if Pommer has another successful weekend at Lausitzring, his competitors will have to put in everything at the penultimate racing weekend at Sachsenring next week in order to prevent him from clinching an early title.

Talk with a true professional
The young drivers will have an opportunity to get some tips from Christian Vietoris. The 25-year old native of Gerolstein claimed the victory at the DTM round at Oschersleben and is currently sixth in the drivers’ championship. He will answer the questions from his colleagues contesting the ATS Formula 3 Cup. Vietoris knows from personal experience how important the German Formula 3 is. He contested the series in 2007 and claimed victories at Nürburgring and Sachsenring. He finished the season seventh in the overall ranking before switching to the Formula 3 Euro Series and continued his career in the GP2 in 2011 and now in the DTM.

The ATS Formula 3 Cup in the media

They will start at 10.45 a.m. and 2.40 p.m. respectively on Saturday and at 4.40 pm. on Sunday right after the Superbike IDM race. A live timing will also be available during the races.
