Dopo la bellissima Pole Position di ieri, Stéphane Richelmi si è posizionato in prima fila oggi in griglia di Gara 1 nel circuito di Montmélo a Barcellona. Un problema alla partenza però ha pregiudicato la sua gara, facendolo rimanere fermo al momento dello start, insieme a diverse altre vetture. La partenza è stata naturalmente cancellata e riproposta, ma i piloti fermi sono dovuti partire dai box, azzerando quindi il grande vantaggio conquistato con la Pole. La gara è stata perciò tutta in salita per Richelmi, che con il team DAMS ha deciso subito di cambiare strategia, montando le gomme dure. Durante i 37 giri percorsi, il pilota monegasco ha spinto al massimo per recuperare posizioni, effettuando il pit stop obbligatorio abbastanza tardi, in modo da poter mantenere la 11° posizione con cui è poi arrivato al traguardo.
Domani si svolgerà Gara 2 alle 10.35 composta da 26 giri, trasmessa in diretta su Sky Sport F.1 HD.
