The last racing weekend at Lausitzring was surely one to remember; perfect weather, the debut within the support programme of the DTM and a Meet & Greet with DTM driver Gary Paffett. The ATS Formula 3 Cup will be back in the Lausitz next weekend, when more than twenty drivers from eleven countries, including a few new entrants, contest a slightly different circuit version. Compared to the DTM version, the first turn is much smoother. The 3.442-km track contested during the ADAC GT Masters weekend guarantees excitement.
Having scored almost 100 points, Marvin Kirchhöfer from Leipzig is currently leading the standings. His competitors come from within his own team, Lotus, Artem Markelov from Russia in second and Briton Emil Bernstorff an third place. The Performance Racing team from Silverstone is second in the team ranking. Team Principal Bobby Issazadhe will introduce Tomasz Krzeminski to his driver line-up of Thomas Jäger from Vienna and Swede John Bryant-Meisner. The Polish driver is returning after a break and has previously contested the ATS Formula 3 Cup for the Italian ADM Motorsport team. That Team Principal, Renato Melchioretto, will enter a new driver, Russian Nikita Zlobin, who is primarily contesting the Italian Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS this season. Furthermore, the reigning champion of the Danish Formula Ford, Dane Nicolai Sylvest, will compete for the JBR Motorsport & Engineering team from Kirchheim.
The Trophy ranking will also feature a few new faces. Team Principal Andreas Germann from Pirmasens will enter the current champion of the Deutsche Bergmeisterschaft, Frank Debruyne from Neuried, for the CR Racing team. The Austrian Franz Wöss Racing team, managed by the team principal and member of the board of the Formula 3 Association with the same name, will bring in two new drivers. His podium contender Maximilian Hackl from Ruderting will be joined by Christopher Höher from Spittal an der Drau, who is the current leader of the Remus-Pokal, as well as Stefan Neuburger. The driver from Linz previously contested the ATS Formula 3 Cup in 2009 and 2011. It remains to be seen if the new faces will be a tough competition for the current leader of the Trophy ranking, Sebastian Balthasar from Cologne.

The ATS Formula 3 Cup is going to welcome some special guests at Lausitzring. Tanja and Helmut Perchtold from Styria will come to collect their prize, including tickets, a Meet & Greet with Marvin Kirchhöfer, an invitation to the ATS Formula 3 Cup & MINI Trophy barbecue in the paddock as well as an exclusive flight over the Lausitzring during a race of the ATS Formula 3 Cup. Helmut Perchtold was the 1,000th fan of the Facebook page. Now he and his daughter Tanja are looking forward to the special event. Fans at home can enjoy the races via live timing and live stream.
