As attention turns to the 2027 season, the inaugural FIA Formula Regional European Championship campaign delivered some impressive numbers. Featuring the second-generation Tatuus T-326, the series welcomed 10 teams and 37 drivers representing 24 nationalities, with a 30-car grid at each of the eight rounds. Seven teams retained the same driver line-up from the opening round to the season finale.

The calendar featured 20 scheduled races across eight circuits in seven countries, with 19 races held after heavy rain forced the cancellation of Race 2 at Spa-Francorchamps. Five of the venues also hosted Formula 1 in 2026.

Three official pre-season tests provided six days of track running, alongside five pre-event tests.

Across the eight rounds, drivers completed a combined 8,311 racing laps, covering 41,526 kilometres, with a total race time of 10 hours, 36 minutes and 35 seconds.

Kabir Anurag (ART Grand Prix) completed the highest number of race laps with 306, two more than Andrea Dupé (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Jules Roussel (CL Motorsport).

Hockenheim produced the closest qualifying session of the season. In Group B’s second session, 15 drivers were covered by just over half a second – 0.588s – while the top 10 were separated by only 0.362s.

Five drivers on the FIA FREC grid were members of the Alpine, Aston Martin, Mercedes and Williams junior programmes, while another subsequently joined Ferrari’s driver development programme.

There were 11 different race winners, with Sebastian Wheldon (MP Motorsport) taking the most victories with four. Rashid Al Dhaheri (R-ace GP) and Kean Nakamura-Berta (PREMA Racing) each claimed three wins. A total of 14 drivers scored at least one podium finish, while eight secured pole position, led by Nakamura-Berta with five. The Drivers’ Championship went down to a four-way title showdown in the final race of the season at Hockenheim.

At 16 years, four months and two days old, Lewis Wherrell was the youngest driver on the grid. A total of 10 drivers were eligible for the Rookie classification.
