FIA WEC – 6 HOURS OF FUJI: TEAM PEUGEOT TOTALENERGIES HEADS TO JAPAN

After leading 61 laps and remaining in contention for victory until the final hour, the PEUGEOT 9X8 #93 secured second place at the 2025 6 Hours of Fuji, delivering Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ best-ever FIA World Endurance Championship result.

Featuring a 1.475-kilometre straight and a demanding infield section made up of 12 corners, Fuji International Speedway is a circuit that suits the characteristics of the PEUGEOT 9X8. Since 2022, the French Hypercars have always finished inside the top ten at Fuji. Last year, the Lionesses recorded the highest top speed among all Hypercars, reaching 318 km/h on the main straight.

Team Peugeot TotalEnergies always look forward to racing in Japan for one of the FIA WEC calendar’s most iconic events. Held at the foot of Mount Fuji, the race attracts thousands of endurance racing fans every year.

Several members of the driver line-up share a particularly strong connection with Japan, having built significant experience in the country’s highly competitive motorsport scene. Loïc Duval and Nick Cassidy both spent several years racing in Japan and claimed titles across multiple championships, while Paul Di Resta competed in three Formula 1 Grands Prix at Suzuka. Théo Pourchaire also raced in Super Formula, and Stoffel Vandoorne joined the French team for the 6 Hours of Fuji in 2023.

Team Peugeot TotalEnergies heads to Fuji determined to regain its fighting spirit ahead of the final two rounds of the season, the 6 Hours of Barcelona and the 6 Hours of Monza, where the team’s FIA WEC adventure first began in 2022.

One year after achieving its best FIA WEC result to date at Fuji, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies returns to the Japanese circuit with stronger references and the ambition to rediscover that momentum in a championship more competitive than ever. The PEUGEOT 9X8s will take to the track at Fuji Speedway on Friday, 25 September for the Free Practice sessions before continuing their preparations in Qualifying on Saturday. The start of the 6 Hours of Fuji will be given on Sunday, 28 September at 11:00 local time (04:00 CET).

“Going back to Fuji is always special to me. It feels like my second home race after Le Mans. I spent many years living and racing in Japan, so it’s always a pleasure to return. I get to see many friends and some of the most loyal fans in motorsports. It’s a circuit I particularly enjoy because it usually produces close racing and plenty of overtaking opportunities. Fuji has often been a positive venue for Peugeot and the team, and I hope that will be the case again this year. I’m looking forward to getting back on track, fighting hard and, hopefully, challenging another podium just like we did last year.”

Il Team Peugeot TotalEnergies ama gareggiare in Giappone in questo celebre evento, situato vicino al Monte Fuji, che ogni anno attira migliaia di appassionati. Molti piloti hanno un forte legame con il Giappone, avendo maturato esperienza nel competitivo panorama motoristico locale. Loïc Duval e Nick Cassidy vantano una significativa carriera agonistica in Giappone, mentre Paul Di Resta ha gareggiato in Formula 1 a Suzuka. Il team punta a ritrovare competitività in vista delle ultime due gare della stagione a Barcellona e Monza, dove nel 2022 è iniziato il suo percorso nel FIA WEC. Dopo l’ottima prestazione dell’anno scorso al Fuji, il Team Peugeot TotalEnergies torna in pista con l’obiettivo di mantenere lo slancio positivo in un campionato sempre più competitivo. Le PEUGEOT 9X8 parteciperanno alle prove libere il 25 settembre, mentre le qualifiche si svolgeranno il giorno successivo. La partenza della 6 Ore del Fuji è prevista per il 28 settembre alle ore 11:00 (ora locale).

Il Team Principal Emmanuel Esnault ha espresso entusiasmo per il ritorno al Fuji, sottolineando la combinazione unica di velocità e curve tecniche del circuito, che favorisce le prestazioni della vettura. Pur consapevole che i successi passati non garantiscono risultati futuri, ha affermato che il team arriva con fiducia, forte delle esperienze positive vissute in passato su questo tracciato.
