GT World had an exciting weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, featuring action both on and off the track, highlighted by the crowning of this year’s Sprint Cup champions. Despite some rain on Saturday, there was still intense competition with 44 GT3 cars racing. Sunday brought sunny weather, a full racing schedule, and a chance for fans to meet drivers during an autograph session.

On Saturday, Tresor Attempto Racing Audi won the main event in rainy conditions, while Lionspeed GP Porsche’s second-place finish secured the overall Sprint Cup drivers’ title for Ricardo Feller and Bastian Buus. The AF Corse Ferrari pair of Tommaso Mosca and Matias Zagazeta claimed the Gold Cup title with one race left. Team WRT BMW had already won the Silver Cup, leaving the Bronze Cup final to be decided on Sunday. Peter Dempsey and Eddie Cheever, favorites for the day, clinched their fourth consecutive class win in their Ziggo Sport Tempesta Racing Porsche.

Sunday’s Race 2 was won by Emil Frey Racing drivers Ben Green and Thierry Vermeulen, who finished ahead of the AF Corse Ferrari driven by Arthur Leclerc and Thomas Neubauer. WRT secured their record 12th Sprint Cup teams’ title that day, finishing ahead of Lionspeed GP.

Saturday’s heavy rain prompted safety measures from local authorities, yet the event succeeded in providing entertainment. Cast members from the popular Spanish series La Casa de Papel attended the grid before Race 1. Fans enjoyed the open paddock with displays of ultracars, including the Mercedes-AMG One, Lamborghini Temerario, Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta, and the McLaren Barquetta, along with a Tesla showcase featuring the Cybertruck.

A new initiative took place on Friday night, where pit crews competed in head-to-head challenges, showcasing the intricacies of a Sprint Cup pit stop. Christopher Haase, driver for Eastalent Racing Audi, made history by participating in his 100th GT World event, becoming the first to achieve this milestone.

The weekend also included races from Lamborghini Super Trofeo, McLaren Trophy Europe, and the GT3 Revival Series, where Stéphane Ortelli and David Halliday drove the Audi R8 LMS that had secured previous victories. With Barcelona now concluded, only one event remains on the 2026 calendar: the Endurance Cup round at Portimão from October 16-18, featuring a 60-car grid and the series debut of Max Verstappen with his own team.
