ELMS – Maximum Entry and All Class Titles Up for Grabs in the 2026 Final Showdown
The 2026 European Le Mans Series will conclude with the 4 Hours of Portimão at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, featuring 47 cars and all four titles still undecided. This is the home race for Algarve Pro Racing and two drivers, Manuel Espírito Santo and José Fernandes Cautela. A total of 140 drivers from 30 teams representing 29 nations will compete on Saturday, 10 October.
In the LMP2 class, 11 cars are entered, with the title competition focused on the no22 United Autosports team and reigning champions Forestier Racing by Panis. United Autosports leads by 13 points and is already guaranteed a spot in the 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans, while Forestier must finish 5th or better for their chance at a Le Mans invite. Other competitors for the invite include teams like Algarve Pro Racing, IDEC Sport, and Inter Europol Competition, but they cannot contend for the overall title. Notably, Luis Felipe ‘Pipo’ Derani replaces Jack Aitken in the no24 Nielsen Racing Oreca.
In the LMP2 Pro/Am class with 12 entries, eight teams are still in the title race, with AF Corse currently holding a 5-point lead. They seek their third title in four years. TDS Racing and Algarve Pro Racing are close behind, with only 6 points separating the top four cars. The no7 Vector Sport Oreca and the no19 Rossa Racing by Virage also have points to chase. The no3 DKR Engineering Oreca has a driver change, with Tristan Vautier replacing Maceo Capietto.
The LMP3 category has 10 entries, with CLX Motorsport leading by 9 points over R-ace GP. The no5 Rinaldi Racing entry of José Fernandes Cautela can still vie for the title but requires both a win and issues for their rivals. Other seven entrants in LMP3 are not in title contention but are looking for strong finishes, with some teams having driver changes for this round.
In the LMGT3 category, 14 cars are competing, and six are still in contention for the title. Team Qatar by Iron Lynx leads with 73 points, followed by the 2025 champions TF Sport with 70 points. Two Proton Competition Porsches are also in the running, with the no77 on 62 points and no75 just one point behind. The no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari needs a win to keep hopes alive, as do other teams like the no86 GR Racing Ferrari. The grid also features entries from United Autosports and other teams.
Tickets for the 4 Hours of Portimão are available starting at 8€.
