Aston Martin and Ferrari victorious as GT3 Revival Series winds back the clock at Le Mans Classic Legend
The GT3 Revival Series continued its first season on July 4-5 at Circuit de la Sarthe, featuring two competitive races. This event was part of Le Mans Classic Legend, organized by Peter Auto and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, which showcased a variety of racing vehicles from 1976 to 2020. The series kicked off with a 50-minute race on Saturday morning, involving 28 cars, with Heikko Neumann’s Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG taking pole position.
Neumann started strong, having previously achieved three podiums but still seeking his first win. He held the lead in Race 1, fending off pressure from Alvaro Parente in the Audi R8 LMS Ultra. The two were closely followed by Jonathan Mitchell in an Aston Martin and Phil Quaife in a Porsche. Unfortunately, Quaife’s race ended due to a technical issue. Benjamin Ricci in a Ferrari 458 soon emerged, overtaking three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti.
The race changed during the pit stops when both Neumann and Parente pitted simultaneously. Parente misjudged his entry and collided with Neumann, damaging both cars. This allowed Ricci to take the lead, which he maintained despite pressure from Mitchell. As the race neared its end, Mitchell spun out, allowing Neumann to pass and finish in second place, locking out the top three positions for Am Gen II cars. Peter Moulsdale finished fourth in his BMW Z4.
On Sunday, Neumann had another chance to secure his first victory. He again started strong and led over Mitchell, who opted for an early pit stop strategy to gain an advantage. This move worked, and Mitchell reclaimed the lead. Despite Neumann’s efforts to close the gap towards the end, he finished second, while Ricci placed third. The overall podium once again featured solely Am Gen II cars, maintaining the points gap at the top of the standings.
Moulsdale repeated his fourth-place finish, and Dr. Afschin Fatemi achieved his best result yet in fifth place. The top six positions were rounded out by Debard and Giauque in an Am Gen I car, marking their first outing as a pair. In the Pro-Am category, Beaubelique and Policand secured a class win and an overall seventh place, putting Beaubelique close to winning the inaugural Pro-Am title. Their nearest rivals, Joebstl and Nutall, took eighth overall but could not challenge for a higher position.
The series will conclude its inaugural season with two rounds at the Nürburgring on August 29-30 and at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on October 3-4, following a pair of events at Spa Classic and Le Mans Classic Legend.

Domenica, Neumann ha avuto un’altra occasione per conquistare la sua prima vittoria. È partito di nuovo forte, portandosi in testa davanti a Mitchell, che ha optato per una strategia di pit stop anticipato per guadagnare terreno. La mossa ha funzionato e Mitchell ha riconquistato la leadership. Nonostante gli sforzi di Neumann per recuperare terreno nel finale, ha chiuso al secondo posto, mentre Ricci si è piazzato terzo. Il podio è stato nuovamente dominato dalle vetture Am Gen II, mantenendo il distacco in classifica.
Moulsdale ha replicato il suo quarto posto, mentre il Dr. Afschin Fatemi ha ottenuto il suo miglior risultato di sempre, conquistando il quinto posto. Le prime sei posizioni sono state completate da Debard e Giauque su una vettura Am Gen I, al loro debutto come coppia. Nella categoria Pro-Am, Beaubelique e Policand si sono aggiudicati la vittoria di classe e il settimo posto assoluto, avvicinando Beaubelique alla conquista del titolo inaugurale Pro-Am. I loro più diretti rivali, Joebstl e Nutall, hanno ottenuto l’ottavo posto assoluto, senza però riuscire a lottare per una posizione migliore.
La stagione inaugurale si concluderà con due appuntamenti al Nürburgring il 29 e 30 agosto e al Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya il 3 e 4 ottobre, dopo due gare a Spa Classic e Le Mans Classic Legend.
