Villorba Corse va in progressione in GT Open con Moncini-Testa all’Hungaroring
Come per la precedente tappa al Misano World Circuit, anche la quarta prova dell’International GT Open disputata lo scorso weekend sul circuito dell’Hungaroring era attesa come una delle più insidiose della stagione per la Scuderia Villorba Corse. Il team trevigiano “supported by Lamborghini” ha in realtà lavorato intensamente insieme ai piloti Leonardo Moncini e Rodrigo Testa per riuscire a portare a casa punti preziosi al volante della Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 numero 63 e l’impegno profuso ha portato a risultati positivi in termini di progressione nell’arco dell’intero weekend.
L’equipaggio italo-portoghese doveva anche fronteggiare l’insidia del proprio esordio assoluto sui tecnici 4381 metri del tracciato che sorge nell’area di Budapest e il fattore di dover macinare esperienza non ha certamente agevolato i due giovani piloti nel contesto di una delle serie internazionali più competitive Con il supporto della squadra diretta da Raimondo Amadio, in ogni caso Moncini-Testa sono riusciti a risalire la corrente durante le gare andate in scena fra sabato e domenica. In gara 1 il duo di Villorba Corse ha concluso ottavo assoluto, mentre in gara 2 si è ancora riusciti a migliorare alcuni aspetti e il team ha potuto raggiungere la settima posizione finale.
Sono piazzamenti che testimoniano ancora una volta la solidità e il desiderio di non mollare mai della squadra, che, preso ormai il ritmo, può ora puntare decisa all’appuntamento del 17-19 luglio in programma nel sud della Francia sul circuito del Paul Ricard a Le Castellet, altro banco di prova ad alto contenuto tecnico, ma almeno sulla carta maggiormente favorevole.
Il team principal Raimondo Amadio: “Non possiamo nascondere che il weekend dell’Hungaroring sia stato sofferto. Abbiamo pagato la non conoscenza della pista da parte dei nostri giovani driver. Il crescendo di prestazioni in realtà c’è stato, ma il miglioramento che abbiamo avuto dalle libere ai riscontri ottenuti in Q1 e Q2 e poi il passo gara non sono bastati a farci raggiungere almeno la top-5, complice anche una pista dove i sorpassi sono molti difficili. Torniamo dalla trasferta ungherese comunque convinti di aver fatto un buon lavoro come squadra e come sempre di aver dato il massimo anche in situazioni a noi non del tutto favorevoli. Il prossimo appuntamento del Paul Ricard è già alle porte e noi continueremo a lavorare per un miglioramento continuo”.
Like the previous round at the Misano World Circuit, the fourth round of the International GT Open, held last weekend at the Hungaroring, was expected to be one of the most challenging of the season for Scuderia Villorba Corse. The Treviso-based team, supported by Lamborghini, worked intensely with drivers Leonardo Moncini and Rodrigo Testa to secure valuable points behind the wheel of the No. 63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2, and their dedication led to positive results in terms of progression throughout the weekend.
The Italian-Portuguese team also faced the challenge of making their debut on the technical 4,381-meter track located in the Budapest area, and the need to gain experience certainly didn’t help the two young drivers in one of the most competitive international series. With the support of the team managed by Raimondo Amadio, Moncini-Testa nevertheless managed to ride against the current during the races held between Saturday and Sunday. In Race 1, the Villorba Corse duo finished eighth overall, while in Race 2 they managed to further improve some aspects, allowing the team to finish seventh.
These placings further demonstrate the team’s solidity and desire to never give up. Having now established a rhythm, they can now confidently focus on the July 17-19 event scheduled for the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, southern France, another highly technical testbed, but one that, at least on paper, is more favorable.
Team principal Raimondo Amadio: “We can’t deny that the Hungaroring weekend was tough. We paid the price for our young drivers’ lack of knowledge of the track. Performance did improve, but the improvement we made from free practice to Q1 and Q2, and then our race pace, wasn’t enough to even get us into the top five, especially given the track’s difficulty for overtaking. We return from the Hungarian round confident that we did a good job as a team and, as always, that we gave our all even in situations that weren’t entirely favorable to us. The next round at Paul Ricard is already upon us, and we’ll continue working towards continuous improvement.”
