ELMS – Masson Takes Pole by 21 Thousandths in Qualifying at Le Castellet
Championship leader and reigning LMP2 champion Esteban Masson secured his first pole of the season in the no29 Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca-Gibson, the French driver posting a 1m48.374 lap a minute before the chequered flag, with a gap of two tenths.
The no30 Duqueine Team Oreca-Gibson was due to start from the front of the LMP2 Pro/Am field after Giorgio Roda secure his 11th ELMS LMP2 Pro/Am pole position in 14 attempts since 2024. However, in post qualifying scrutineering the car was found to have sealing foam between two body parts in breach of the regulations. The no30 Duqueine Team Oreca was disqualified (Steward’s Decision no15) and all times set during the session cancelled.
The no4 DKR Engineering Ligier-Toyota will start at the head of the LMP3 grid after Romain Favre blitzed his final lap in 1m58.784 to deny Pierre-Alexandre Provost the pole position at the chequered flag. The no85 R-ace GP Duqueine had held the top spot for most of the 15-minute session and looked on course to secure pole position before that final lap by Favre.
The no62 Team Qatar by Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG will start from pole position for the second time in two races when Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi took the chequered flag in 2m03.814, 0.071s ahead of the no33 TF Sport Corvette of Blake McDonald after the American had led for most of the session.

Il leader del campionato e campione in carica della categoria LMP2, Esteban Masson, ha conquistato la sua prima pole position stagionale con la Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca-Gibson numero 29, chiudendo in 1’48.374 un minuto prima della bandiera a scacchi, con un vantaggio di due decimi.
La Duqueine Team Oreca-Gibson numero 30 avrebbe dovuto partire dalla pole position nella categoria LMP2 Pro/Am dopo che Giorgio Roda aveva conquistato la sua undicesima pole position ELMS LMP2 Pro/Am in 14 tentativi dal 2024. Tuttavia, durante le verifiche tecniche post-qualifica, è stata riscontrata la presenza di materiale sigillante tra due parti della carrozzeria, in violazione del regolamento. La Duqueine Team Oreca numero 30 è stata quindi squalificata (Decisione n. 15 dei Commissari di Gara) e tutti i tempi registrati durante la sessione sono stati annullati.
La Ligier-Toyota numero 4 del team DKR Engineering partirà dalla pole position nella categoria LMP3 dopo che Romain Favre ha fatto segnare un tempo eccezionale nell’ultimo giro, fermato a 1’58.784, negando a Pierre-Alexandre Provost la pole position al traguardo. La Duqueine numero 85 del team R-ace GP aveva mantenuto la prima posizione per gran parte della sessione di 15 minuti e sembrava avviata a conquistare la pole position prima del giro finale di Favre.
La Mercedes-AMG numero 62 del Team Qatar by Iron Lynx partirà dalla pole position per la seconda volta in due gare, grazie al tempo di Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi, che ha tagliato il traguardo in 2’03.814, con un vantaggio di 0.071 secondi sulla Corvette numero 33 del team TF Sport di Blake McDonald, che era stato al comando per la maggior parte della sessione.
