Isaac Tutumlu Aims to Continue Podium Streak at Misano
The driver representing Kurdistan will take part this coming weekend in the second round of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, which will be held on Italian soil. Tutumlu already stepped onto the podium on his debut with the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo of CSA Racing, which sports the colors of Kurdistan Racing. Together with his teammate Arthur Rougier, they secured promising second- and fourth-place finishes in the two races.
Isaac Tutumlu and Kurdistan Racing head into their second race event of the current GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup season, traveling to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the venue for this new stop in the world’s leading GT3 championship. After a two-month break in the series, Tutumlu will once again take the wheel of the CSA Racing McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, sharing driving duties with the equally fast Arthur Rougier.
Both the Kurdish-flagged driver and his French teammate will be among the most competitive pairings in the Bronze Cup, as they already demonstrated at the season opener in Zandvoort. Despite it being his first outing with the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, Tutumlu was remarkably effective at the wheel of the CSA Racing machine. Together with Rougier, they earned a second-place finish in Sunday’s race—where they also set the fastest lap—and finished fourth on Saturday. These results put them on 19.5 points in the standings, tied for third place overall in the Bronze Cup.
Misano, inaugurated in 1969, is a circuit with deep roots in Italian motorsport. Its current layout, known as the “Grand Prix” configuration, measures 4.226 kilometers and dates back to 2008. “I’m heading into this second round at Misano with great motivation. I tested there for two days ten years ago. In any case, I’ve trained hard on the simulator and now have a much better grasp of the McLaren and my integration within the team,” explains Tutumlu, emphasizing that “it’s going to be a weekend marked by high temperatures, which means tire management will be key. We’re also expecting thousands of fans in the stands, largely due to Valentino Rossi racing at his home track. We’ll try to close the gap to the leaders or even take the lead.”
