Only a few days before the debut season in the DTM Trophy gets underway, the GT series on the support package of the DTM gets another boost: HP Racing International has submitted its entry for the DTM Trophy with Tim Heinemann as its driver. The 22-year-old from Fichtenberg in Germany will be racing a Mercedes-AMG in the DTM Trophy.
HP Racing International has already been competing successfully in international motorsport for many years. The team has a vast experience in competition with GT and production-based touring cars and is ready to take on its first season in the DTM Trophy.
Tim Heinemann benefited from virtual racing as a stepping stone into real-world motorsport. At the age of 14, he already won the ‘Race Room Challenge’ at the Essen Motor Show and he was also successful in the virtual DTM.
With several titles in digital racing to his name, he embarked on his first season of circuit racing together with HP Racing International last year. He already scored a podium finish during his first event. The rookie driver then convinced with a pair of overall race wins and as many pole positions as the season went on.
Now, he is making the next step by participating in the DTM Trophy that has its races on the support package of the DTM on six event weekends in Belgium and Germany. Heinemann is continuing his existing co-operation with HP Racing International.
“Anticipation for the season opener at Spa on the first weekend of August is rising more and more. Our field of competitors is getting stronger and stronger, too, currently with HP Racing International as the latest addition. For us, the positive feedback from the teams proves that we have found the right way with our concept. We are delighted about the participation of HP Racing International and Tim Heinemann.”
Frederic Elsner, Director Event ITR GmbH
“Participation in the DTM Trophy is an interesting expansion of our activities. For young drivers like Tim, the concept of the DTM Trophy provides an attractive opportunity to showcase their abilities. To do so, the platform of the DTM event is perfectly suited. Last year, Tim has already proven that he is able to win races. We are looking forward to our campaign together with Tim in the DTM Trophy this season.”
