FFF Racing by ACM concluded its Super Trofeo Middle East Championship in style this weekend (2-3 March) with double overall and class victories at Dubai Autodrome. As a result, the team claimed championship success in both the Pro and Am classes as well as in the Teams’ championship.
The opening race of the weekend saw James Pull and Jack Bartholomew take the over victory and claim the Super Trofeo Middle East Pro championship after another impressive drive. Pull started the race in fifth position after the circuit had been declared wet and put in a great stint to hand over the #5 Lamborghini to Bartholomew in third position.
The British driver paced himself and took the lead of the race on lap 19 to record a third straight consecutive victory for the team. Taylor Proto meanwhile finished in a sensational second overall with a late charge, to claim the Am title honours.
“It was a really interesting race,” said team owner Sean Fu Songyang. “James started from fifth position and he did a really good job with the slippery track and we had the safety car, so it was a complicated race in many ways for him as he is still new to the car but he did a great job. Jack finished off the race and took the lead, passing his main title rival, so P1 overall and the Pro title. P2 Taylor – amazing job from him too as he won the Am class with a race to spare. So, a really good outcome to the race.”
The second race of the weekend, and the season finale, saw Bartholomew line up third, but a great start saw him vault to the front of the field where he held off a challenge from the #76 entry. Great work from the team saw the #5 entry retain the overall lead after the mandatory pit stop with Pull taking the car to the chequered flag again ahead of Taylor Proto who finished in a fighting second.
“We are delighted with the way the championship went,” Sean Fu Songyang continued. “It’s not just the results, but the way drivers like Jack and James performed so well. There are so many positives to take from the success, the team is even stronger than last year, and this gives a lot of confidence ahead of the GT Series Asia.
“The success and the trophies are also good for all the guys that have worked really hard in the preparation of the cars. Now we need to convert these cars as we get ready for round one in Sepang where we aim to maintain the same level of competitiveness.”
