GDL Middle East claimed a podium finish at its debut in the Radical Middle East. At its first appearance in the championship and at the very first race on the Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit, the new team clinched the third position with the Nigel Farmer and team manager Gianluca De Lorenzi duo.
This result expecially awarded the Hong Kong’s driver, who made a spectacular recovery, and represents a very good start for this new commitment in the series.
During the same weekend, another frontrunner for the GDL Middle East was Mikhail Spiridonov, at his first time on a Radical rececar and at his first experience on the Emirates’ circuit.
The Russian was a bit unlucky in Race 1, but excellent in Race 2, when he also made a recovery that let him to take the third place. In this position he remained till two laps to go, when the safety car came in. At the re-start Spiridonov moved fourth and finished just below the podium.
In the same weekend the team led by “Gianluca of Arabia” – the new nickname of Gianluca – entered a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo racecar in the NGK championship for American by Long Beach Jim Michelian, who finished third both the race.
Next round for the GDL Middle East is scheduled for 17-19 November in Dubai.
