ATS Formel 3 Cup – Maximilian Hackl to contest for Amkon Motorsport in 2014

Following the announcement that Dane Nicolai Sylvest will contest the 2014 ATS Formula 3 Cup season, Maximilian Hackl will be the next driver to join him on the grid. The driver from Ruderting is well-known. The 21-year old secured the fourth place in the Trophy ranking in his debut season in the German Formula 3 in 2013. Now the Bavarian is getting ready to work with a new team, Amkon Motorsport. A true family endeavour, since the team principal is his father, Robert Hackl, who has a clear goal: the top ten.

Maximilian Hackl would probably love to get back into the single-seater right away. “It is fantastic to be back next year. The organisation is perfect. It is a very professional environment and just a lot of fun,” says the young talent happily. And he has one advantage. He will not have to get used to his car, since he will compete in a new Chassis Dallara F311 and his 2013 engine, the OPC-Challenge. “I think the new engine concept is much better,” says Team Principal Robert Hackl. “Besides the driver scoring points, the team can help gain valuable seconds by working with the right engine.” Dirk Jenichen in the role of the technical director will also provide a solid foundation.

General qualification for motorsports & industrial engineering at university
Following the start of his career in karting, Maximilian Hackl switched to Formula racing in 2010. The 21-year old contested the Austria Formula 3 Cup and subsequently made his debut in the ATS Formula 3 Cup, where he secured the fourth place in the Trophy ranking in 2013. He intends to finish among the top ten in the overall ranking in 2014. “It is difficult to say right now. We do have a great team, which is a good foundation to be able to drive fast,” says Hackl, who is excited about the new season. “It would be fantastic to claim the podium once and again!” The driver from Rudertinger has a tough schedule. He will begin studying industrial engineering at university in February. “Both are a lot of fun, Formula 3 even more so,” says the future student, smiling. “It is definitely worth the effort.”

Drivers interested in competing in a single-seater series may contact Amkon Motorsport. There is still one car to be assigned to a young talent. The 2014 calendar also includes Hackl’s favourite track, the Red Bull Ring.
